26th & 27th

well, last night i had an amazing workout…i did 45 minutes on the elliptical of course….(unfortunately i went to the gym really late again..i didnt get home until almost midnight (its a 24 hour gym) i did enjoy my workout…and i got to try alot of new things that i felt awkward doing in front of other people…which was nice…and the music was great…too.

anyhow…for some reason the scale says that i lost 5 pounds ..just like that! i have tried to move it around in other locations and it still says the same so…I DONT KNOW?? i drank alot of water the last few days and i have had good workouts….i just think that is a little much for one day…geez if it were that easy i would be skinny soon…

well, i better run…i have tons to do so i can hit the gym again…before i teach at church tonight….

Sunday 2-24-08

Well, my girdles seem to work…lol i cant tell you how many people came up to me at church today and said ” wow april you have lost alot of weight!” ha. i wish …but, i will soon enough. but, the new hair cut, new clothes, and the girdles really do help me to feel better about the way that i look…i feel so different when i actually look nice..

anyhow…i didnt work out today…the weekends are always our family days…we try to play kick ball, tennis etc.. as a family but, didnt today…

today is the start of my first week with the heartbreakers!! WOO HOO! im so excited… i really wanted to do a better job with the newbie challenge but, i just dont have the time to be on here as much as i feel i would need to. My apologies to all that were involved …i feel like i let you down in that aspect but, hey…we are all now involved in a new challenge and there are more of us involved (so many had responded to the newbie challenge but, only 3 were serious, it doesnt look that way with the heartbreakers …it looks like  there are alot of fired up ladies!! anyhow…i better run…i have to get up and run early in the morning and i dont want any excuses…so i need my sleep!

did not do well today….

when i was getting dressed to take my daughter Patience to her  basketball game today…i changed shirts like 6 times…because i was having one of those “fat days” you ever have those…where some days you feel and look slimmer than others…and you can wear certain things and feel fine…but, then other days you cant because it just doesnt  look right….

then to top it all off i didnt do very well today…i ate a healthy breakfast, but, lunch time rolls around and i ate japanese chicken and fried rice from the mall (way too yummy) i ate more than i told myself too…and then to top it all off my hubby insists on taking our kids to marble slab creamery! i got an original size which was the small for the adult size and (it was really more than enough, i should have ordered a child size!) but, i got birthday cake flavored ice cream with fresh strawberries…and it was sooo yummy. i feel so bad …for eating that much …but, then i saw this couple come in and they got these huge ice creams ….and she was very very very overweight…and i took that as a hint! if i continue to eat like that…im going to be that big! i could have settled for just a kiddie size portion..and i wouldnt have felt so bad…i will have to work extra hard this week…to make myself feel better….the reason im blogging this is so i will be ashamed of myself and wont do it again!

anyhow..i have to teach sunday school in the morning so i better hit the hay…. goodnight everyone!

i pray that there is room on the heartbreakers team…. i need the group..of people all going after the same goal…i know that it will help me….

Great workout yesterday…did not work out today :( wish i could have squeezed it in….somehow. But, tomorrow i will make up for it…i am really going to have to figure out why i am not seeing results…i am working out regularly on the elliptical and watching what i eat….but, still no big changes..im going to have to do more….! Im going to have to go beyond the usual 45 minute workout at the gym. I do have to say that im feeling and looking better even though im not really seeing any changes in my weight. I got a new haircut, some new clothes.(and some new girdles!! LOL)..etc…

really does make a BIG difference!

want so badly to join the heartbreakers…as a team..hope that they have room for us…i know that it will help us kick our metabolisms in gear! anyhow..i better hit the hay…im sleepy.

please jacquline have room for us (fingers crossed!) we want to be heartbreakers too!

Closer…and…Closer..

I know im getting closer and closer to seeing some results….i was on the eliptical for 45 minutes today….and it felt great!

today i ate…. tofu for breakfast and had a glass of morning blend juice that is full of vitamins,  a chicken bacon and ranch sub (6 in- not 12!!) with fresh spinach, tomatoes, black olives, vinegar, and pickles….(its soooo yummy!) and  i just had a bowl of yogurt with cherry vanilla granola… (much better than ice cream…( you should try it!)

and of course tons of water! now im going to do some more research on coconut oil… and i will post it later…of course…

High fructose corn syrup!

Before the 1970’s, sweetened foods contained sucrose, which was derived from beets or sugar cane.  When you reached for a soda, you were drinking sugar, among other things.  This might not have been the most healthy choice, but certainly not potentially dangerous to your health.  Today, high fructose corn syrup is in almost everything you buy, from sodas to catsup, and is one of the main reasons so many people are overweight, diabetic and so much more. 

It wasn’t until the 1970’s that high fructose corn syrup was created from the sugar in corn.  This sweetener is certainly sweet, easy to make and cheaper than sugar.  Many companies jumped on the high fructose corn syrup bandwagon, from sodas to pasta sauces to catsup to beer – and even so-called health bars.  If you take a look in your cupboard and start reading labels, you will be surprised at how many products contain this syrup. 

Nutritionists are asking people to decrease their intake of high fructose corn syrup significantly.  It is one of the major causes of obesity and diabetes today.  Your body does not process fructose like it does sugar.  When you consume fructose, your body processes it like it would fat, rather than turn it into energy as it would with sugar.  It makes you more hungry, which makes you eat even more. 

Fructose is a major concern to physicians, who are seeing both children and adults become “soft,” overweight and unhealthy.  In the liver, it creates a larger amount of triglycerides, which increases the risk of heart disease.  Studies have shown that large amounts of high fructose corn syrup induce insulin resistance, impair glucose tolerance, produce high levels of insulin, boost a dangerous type of fat in the blood and cause high blood pressure in animals.  When you look at the health of individuals today, you can see there is not a far stretch from reactions of animals to a human’s reaction to this dangerous syrup. 

With regards to food allergies and intolerances, high fructose corn syrup is a major factor in behavior and intolerant reactions in both children and adults today.  The diets of many today include daily sodas, which are filled with high fructose corn syrup.  Juices and juice boxes are more high fructose corn syrup than juice, so be sure your children are drinking boxes marked, “100% fruit juice.”  Snack bars, candy and many other snacks contain this syrup.  You can even be consuming it innocently, while dining on spaghetti, seasoning with Worcester sauce, or dipping something into catsup.  If your child is hyperactive, unable to focus or often tired, be sure to look at the ingredients of everything he or she eats.  You may find that a significant decrease in high fructose corn syrup may cause a significant increase in good behavior.

weightloss challenge starts today!

okay so i wasnt able to find a challenge to accept me..so i started my own…(as if i dont have enough to do !)

thats okay..i want this..and when i want something so badly…i make it happen.

just like when i quit smoking…(thank You God! who deserves all the credit!)

i need your help on this one too..something i have been struggling with all my life….im giving it to you!

today..

yesterday was good…as far as working out…i was having cramps and my back has been hurting for a few days ( i NEED a new bed…) but, i went anyway… i didnt do any weights and i didnt do the eliptical machine…but, i did stay on the treadmill for over an hour. I did over 3 miles at  a pretty good pace…i havent started jogging or running on that thing yet…i do walk pretty fast and i use the fat burn mode which keeps my heart rate where it is supposed to be at my age, and weight. i am able to do alot more on there than i used to be able to…that makes me feel confident. i am eating well…high fiber, i am going to start taking my vitamins again…(i dont like pills) i try to get everything that i need out of my food but, i doubt that i do. i feel good about the kids joining the kids fitness…i just hope that my little man Thyme (pronounced Time) will learn to adjust to the nursery…without his big sisters there with him (he is not going to like it thats for sure…but, he will get over it in time he will understand) anyhow…lots going on around here….with a house this full….you get used to it….

hey..here is a great snack idea…at EARTH FARE i bought some wallaby (something?)  vanilla yogurt (large container- family size!)  its sooo yummy with this cherry vanilla granola mixed in… scrumdiddlyumptious! you should try it…low in fat, high in protein…not too sweet….just right ( my kids love it too)

and im still eating my kashi 7 whole grain pilaf that i also found at earth fare its yummy, cheap and very filling… my oldest daughter loves it as well….its very flexible you can mix it with stuff, you can eat it cooked with veggie, beef or chicken broth, you can stir fry it, stuff with it, mix it up with breakfast stuff, eggs, grits or whatever…i love it.

i am going to head to the gym again today…and then its a family friday celebration party where we celebrate eachother and all of the wonderful things that have happened to each of us  this week and  then its off to all night lazer tagging, and skating in Georgia ( i live in Charleston SC- i think that its a couple of hours away…) its a youth group trip with our church…and i volunteered to go with them because i am overprotective and she is only 12…..sounds like im going to have an amazingly wonderful day….
